1.      Task Force Team Meeting on Mt. Geumgang Tourism

 

South Korean government’s task force team for Mt. Geumgang tourism will have a meeting at the Ministry of Unification today.

 

The team members are expected to review North Korea’s recent move on Mt.Geumgang tourism program, relevant ministries’ diplomatic measures on the tour, and future plans.

 

From MOU, Director General for Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation and Director of Social and Cultural Exchange Division will take part in the meeting. Officials from other ministries including Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are also expected to participate in the meeting.

 

2.      Minister’s Schedules

 

Minister Yu Woo-ik will take part in the interpellation for diplomacy, unification and security sectors from 10 a.m at the National Assembly.

 

On Thursday, Minister is scheduled to have a meeting at 10:30 a.m with the chairman Bae Hae-dong of Gaesong Industrial Council and nine businessmen who run factories in Gaesong Industrial Complex. The purpose of the meeting is to have a deeper understanding of the difficulties the businessmen face in the complex.

 

Also, Minister will meet with Incheon Mayor Song Young-kil at 2 P.M in his office. Minster Yu and Mayor Song will have an extensive discussion on inter-Korea exchange and cooperation program run by Incheon city.

 

On Friday, Minister is slated to have the first meeting with the reporters at MOU.

 

3.      MOU, Gyeonggi-do and Yeoncheon-gun to Ink Memorandum of Understanding

 

Ministry of Unification, Gyeonggi-do and Yeoncheon-gun will sign a memorandum of understanding to establish a cultural center for teenagers of two Koreas on October 24. The MOU ceremony is slated to be held at Yeoncheon-gun office at 12:30 p.m.

 

4.      Director General’s Meeting with Jonathan Lee

 

Today, Jonathan Lee will visit our ministry to have a meeting with Director General for Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation.

 

Jonathan Lee is a 14-year-old Korean-American who established International Cooperation of Environmental Youth in 2009. Lee was appointed as an ambassador for United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
