Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho delivers a special lecture for residents in the Northern Korean provinces (February 26)

On February 26, Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho delivered a special lecture for residents in the seven Northern Korean provinces* at the invitation of the Committee for the Five Northern Korean Provinces.

The lecture was attended by 300 people from Northern Korean provinces, including President Yoon Il-young of the Central Association of People from the Five Northern Korean Provinces and chiefs of provincial associations.

Minister Kim gave a lecture on the realities of and changes in North Korea based on the Status Report on North Korean Economy and Society.

Moreover, Minister Kim stated, “People from Northern Korean provinces have a strong will for liberal unification, as they were the first to seek freedom against the North Korean regime more than 70 years ago.” The minister further expressed the commitment of the ROK government to making every effort for the advancement of freedom and improvement of the lives of North Korean residents, as well as addressing the issue of separated families, including reunion efforts.
