On March 14, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse met with Polish
Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau and exchanged views on inter-Korean
relations and the Korean peninsula situation.
The ministers exchanged their views on the international
circumstances and the Korean peninsula situation, where tensions are
escalating due to a series of North Korean military provocations.
Minister Kwon asked Minister Rau for continued interest and support
regarding the South Korean government’s “Audacious Initiative.”
Minister Kwon, in particular, stressed that the international
community must persistently persuade and put pressure on North Korea
to abandon its nuclear and missile development program and open the
door to dialogue.
Minister Rau expressed concerns over the North’s nuclear and missile
launches and its border closure and said that Poland would remain
supportive of the South Korean government and make efforts to improve
the Korean Peninsula situation.
Both sides agreed to cooperate on various fields, including the
Korean Peninsula issues.
