The government will do its utmost to resolve the issues of abductees,
detainees, and POWs, as “Protecting its people” is its grave duty
The Ministry of Unification meets with families and related
organizations of abductees, detainees, and POWs (March 27)
On March 27, the Ministry of Unification invited families and
related organizations of abductees, detainees, and unrepatriated
prisoners of war (POW) and held a forget-me-nots badge delivery
ceremony and a meeting.
The event was held to consolidate the people’s hope for the return
of abductees, detainees, and POWs.
During the meeting, Unification Minister Kim stated, “President Yoon
Suk Yeol wore the badge of forget-me-nots at yesterday’s cabinet
meeting and expressed strong will to bring all abductees, detainees,
and POWs back to the embrace of their families and the Republic of Korea.
Minister Kim added that the Ministry of Unification will do its
utmost to resolve the issues of abductees, detainees, and POWs, as
“protecting its people” is the government’s basic and grave duty.
Moreover, Minister Kim stressed that the issues of abductees,
detainees, and POWs can be best resolved when “every member of our
society pays close attention to the matter and provides active support
all together.” He further said that the government will “exert every
effort to ensure that the strong will of our people is clearly
conveyed to North Korea and that the abductees, detainees, and POWs
can return to their families as soon as possible.”
