【Internal Affairs】
On February 1, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un provided field guidance at the renovated Pyongyang Trolley Bus Factory.
 
On January 27, the North Korean media reported the progress in the sprucing up of Samjiyon County.
 
On February 1, the North Korean media reported that a symposium of social scientists on the building of a regular armed force was held at the Korean Revolution Museum.
 
On February 2, the North Korean media reported that the country should root out the slightest illusion about imperialism and adhere to the Juche character and national character.
 
On February 2, the North Korean media reported that Premier Pak Pong Ju gave field guidance at the Pyongyang Dental Hygiene Products Factory.


 
 【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On January 27 and 28, the North Korean media reported that South Korea’s advance team visited the North (January 23-25) and North Korea’s advance team visited the South (January 25-27) in preparation for the North’s participation in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.
 
On January 27, the North Korean media condemned the second round of the Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group (EDSCG) between high-level foreign and defense affairs officials of the US and the ROK (Washington, January 17) and called on the ROK government to behave rationally.
 
On January 28, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Korean Peace Advocacy National Committee, in a statement, denounced the 2018 Nuclear Posture Review and the US’s sending strategic assets over South Korea and urged the ROK government to respond to its sincere efforts.

 

【Foreign Affairs】
On January 27, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, blasted the US Treasury Department for imposing additional unilateral sanctions against North Korea (January 24).
 
On January 30, the North Korean media reported that the DPRK Institute of International Studies released the White Paper on Human Rights Violations in the US in 2017.
 
On February 1, the North Korean media reported that Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho sent a letter to UN Secretary General Antonio Manuel de Oliveira Guterres on January 31 calling on the UN to take the US’s maneuvers to provoke a nuclear war seriously.
 
On February 2, the North Korean media condemned US Vice President Pence for making such remarks as “The US will proactively respond to counter North Korea propaganda at the PyeongChang Olympics.”
