that Kim Jong Un provided field guidance at the Orangchon Power
Station; the Naksan sea salmon farms and the Sokmak Atlantic Salmon
Pedigree Farm of the army’s Unit 810; the Chongjin Shipyard; the
September 1 Machine Factory of the Ranam Coal-mining Machine Complex;
the Yombunjin Hotel (under construction); a resort in Onpo;
Jungphyong-ri, Kyongsong County; and the Chongjin Bag Factory.
On July 19, the North Korean media reported that Premier Pak Pong Ju
gave field guidance at various units in North Pyongan Province.
On July 20, the North Korean media reported that Choe Ryong Hae,
vice chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, gave field guidance at
Pyongyang University of Architecture.
On July 16, the North Korean media emphasized the role of the
cabinet as an economic command.
On July 16, the North Korean media reported that the Presidium of
the Supreme People’s Assembly promulgated a decree that the DPRK will
grant amnesty to those who had been convicted of the crimes against
the country and people on the occasion of the 70th founding
anniversary of the DPRK.
【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On July 20, the North Korean media
condemned the ROK President’s remarks on the North as “acts of giving
useless instructions.”
On July 14, the North Korean media denounced the Ministry of
Unification’s human rights policy and visit to South Korea by the UN
special rapporteur on human rights in North Korea.
On July 19, the North Korean media argued that if the North Korean
restaurant workers who defected to the South are not returned to the
North, it will be a stumbling block to improvement in inter-Korean relations.
On July 16, the North Korean media urged the South and the North to
completely suspend military drills, emphasizing the importance of
building military trust.
On July 18, the North Korean media denounced the South Korean
conservative parties’ remarks regarding the documents that show that
the Defense Security Command of South Korea reviewed the action
program for a military coup, which includes declaration of martial law.
【Foreign Affairs】
On July 19, the North Korean media argued
that declaring an end to the Korean War is the first process in
establishing lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
On July 15, the North Korean media blasted the US media’s report on
suspicion about North Korea’s denuclearization.
On July 18, the North Korean media criticized the Japanese Foreign
Minister’s remarks on North Korea and emphasized that Japan should
settle its past wrongdoings.
On July 19, the North Korean media highlighted the friendly
relations between the DPRK and Russia on the occasion of the 18th
anniversary of the publication of the historic DPRK-Russia joint declaration.
