【Internal Affairs】
On August 4, 6, and 8, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un provided field guidance at the Pyongyang Trolley Bus Factory and the Bus Repair Factory; the Samchon Catfish Farm; and a processing plant for salted fish in Kumsanpo, South Hwanghae Province.

On August 9, the North Korean media reported that Premier Pak Pong Jun gave field guidance at construction sites in Samjiyon County and for the Tanchon Power Station.

On August 6, the North Korean media launched the campaign to increase production to fulfill the five-year plan for national economic growth.

On August 8, the North Korean media reported on health and quarantine measures to cope with the sweltering heat.


【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On August 8, the North Korean media condemned the meetings of the Korea-US Integrated Defense Dialogue and top South Korean military commanders.

On August 7, the North Korean media reported that a South Korean who illegally entered the North was returned to the South.


【Foreign Affairs】
On August 9, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the US’s attitude following the North Korea-US summit meeting and called on Washington to take appropriate measures.

On August 5, the North Korean media reported that Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho, in his speech at the ASEAN Regional Forum, argued that in North Korea-US relations, a new approach with priority on confidence-building measures should be taken and all items in the joint statement issued after the North Korea-US summit meeting in Singapore should be implemented in a “balanced, simultaneous and phased way.”

On August 10, the North Korean media denounced the US pressure on the South to impose sanctions on the North as unfair treatment.

On August 5, the North Korean media reported that the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, in a white paper, slammed the extension of the US-Japan nuclear agreement.

On August 9, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the History Society of the DPRK, in a statement, blasted the announcement on “measures to implement guidelines for teaching” issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (Educating high-school students that “The Dokdo islets belong to Japan” is required from July 17, 2019).
