1. Minister's Schedules
Minister Kim Yeon Chul held a policy briefing at an event hosted by
the National Unification Advisory Council today(9.30) at 9:30 A.M.
On Tuesday(10.1), Minister Kim will attend the cabinet meeting at 10 A.M.
On Friday(10.4), Minister Kim will deliver congratulatory remarks at
a commemorative event for the 12th anniversary of the October 4
Declaration at 6:30 P.M.
2. Vice Minister's Schedule
Vice Minister Suh Ho will be visiting Germany from Oct. 1 to 6 to
attend an event commemorating the German reunification.
3. Q&A (Partial)
Q. Is there still no response from the North regarding the South’s
proposal to cooperate in preventing the spread of African swine fever?
A. There is nothing new to mention regarding the North’s response.
Q. It was the Government’s original goal to send food aid (rice) to
the North by the end of September, but it is well past that time
frame. Do you have any explanation regarding current conditions or
future plans?
A. The Government, under humanitarian grounds and together with the
World Food Programme (WFP), aimed to finish the transport of food aid
by the end of September. However, there is no official response coming
from the North and there is no progress in discussions between WFP and
the North. The Government will continue negotiations with WFP
regarding future plans.
Q. Is there any possibility of the food aid plan being cancelled?
A. Discussions between the ROK Government and WFP seems important at
this stage. We will continue contact with the WFP and discuss how to
carry out food aid for the North.
