Q. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un seemingly did not attend the
latest test of super-large multiple rocket launchers yesterday. Does
the Ministry have any information on this, and what does it see is the
reason for Kim’s absence?
A. I am aware that the concerned agency presented its stance
regarding the North’s recent test, and there is nothing for us to
confirm regarding Kim Jong Un’s attendance.
Q. Yomiuri Shimbun reported that more than 100 North Korean soldiers
have died with suspected COVID-19 symptoms around the borders with
China. Is the Ministry aware of such developments?
A. I have read the report, and there is nothing to comment on that.
Just as a note, the Ministry makes judgements based on what North
Korea officially says.
Q. A Japanese paper also reported that the border between North
Korea and China is no longer closed. Has the Ministry seen any such indications?
A. The Ministry will look into related matters.
