3. Q&A
Q. Did North Korea respond to the proposal to hold high-level talks
to resolve the issue of separated families? If not, does the
Government plan to take additional measures in this regard?
A. As you may know, considering the urgency and the humanitarian
concern of the issue of separated families, we cannot put an end to
our efforts simply because there is negative or little response from
North Korea.
As of now, North Korea has yet to respond to our proposal for
high-level talks to resolve the issue of separated families. However,
we also need to take into account the fact that North Korea has shown
a passive stance when it comes to the issue to separated families for
the past several decades.
Therefore, the Government will continue to make every efforts for
North Korea to respond to our proposal.
