On March 29, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse attended a monthly
meeting of the EU member-state ambassadors to Korea and held “UniOn
Talks,” talks on the Yoon administration’s unification and North
Korean policies.
The talks, held at the invitation of the EU Delegation to Korea,
served as a communication venue for EU member states to expand their
understanding of the Korean government’s unification and North Korean
policies, and exchange broad views on the Korean Peninsula situation
and inter-Korean relations.
Minister Kwon expressed concerns over North Korea’s ongoing nuclear
and missile provocations amid fluctuations in the international
circumstances and shared his assessment of the recent North Korean situation.
Moreover, Minister Kwon asked EU member states for their cooperation
and support, stressing the importance of cooperation and efforts by
the international community to bring about changes in North Korea.
The Ministry of Unification will strive to build and spread
understanding of the Yoon administration’s unification and North
Korean policies among the international community through regular
communication with embassies in Korea and officials of international organizations.
In particular, the Unification Ministry looks forward to
strengthening close cooperation between Korea and the EU as we
celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.
