[The unified Korean team shows the power of peace!]
Korean table tennis team wins the final in mixed doubles at the Korea Open
A table tennis mixed doubles pairing with Jang Woo-jin from South
Korea and Cha Hyo Sim from North Korea beat a Chinese team 3-1 at the
International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Tour Platinum Korea
Open at the Chungmu Sports Arena in Daejeon.
It has been 27 years since a joint Korean team previously won a gold
medal at an international competition. A unified women’s team won the
gold medal at the world table tennis championships in 1991 in Chiba, Japan.
Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon participated in the awards
ceremony as an awards presenter and heartily celebrated their victory.
Meanwhile, a joint Korean table tennis team with Lee Sang-su from
the South and Pak Sin Hyok from the North won bronze in the men’s
doubles, showing the power of the unified Korean team.
