Unification Minister Kim participates in the second Newsis Forum on
Unification and Economy
On April 18, Unification Minister Kim Yeon Chul participated in the
second Newsis Forum on Unification and Economy which addressed “North
Korea’s economic opening: prospects and tasks.”
Minister Kim, in his congratulatory speech, said, “Since its
inauguration, the Moon Jae-in administration has consistently strived
to establish lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula through improvement
in inter-Korean relations.” He continued, “If the two Koreas and the
US work together, they can establish peace on the Korean Peninsula
through economic cooperation and then further increase economic
cooperation based on the peace, creating a virtuous cycle of peace and
economic development.”
Regarding the fourth inter-Korean summit, the Unification Minister
said, “It will be an important stepping stone toward ensuring that
follow-up negotiations between Washington and Pyeongyang make progress
and lead to an agreement,” adding that “The government will make the
most of the hard-won, precious opportunity and do its best to build a
new Korean Peninsula of peace, cooperation, prosperity, and
coexistence that the Korean people have long dreamed of.”
