On August 13, Unification Minister Lee In-young met Lee Jong-kul, the new president of the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation (KCRC), at the Government Complex Seoul and they discussed the roles of civic organizations in inter-Korean exchange and cooperation.

Minister Lee stated, “Carrying out unification policy based on the consensus of the people including liberals, conservatives and moderates, regardless of region, generation and class, is very important.”

He went on to say, “Since the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation (KCRC) is the very civic organization that communicates with all people including liberals, conservatives and moderates, the Ministry of Unification will cooperate as much as it can,” adding, “Now that inter-Korean relations are quite strained, I hope that the KCRC will take the lead in finding a way out of the impasse.”
