South Korea’s first regional base, Honam Unification Plus(+) Center,
opened in Mokpo
Opening ceremony of the Honam Unification Plus(+) Center (September 8)
On September 9, Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho attended the
opening ceremony of the Honam Unification Plus(+) Center in Mokpo City
and delivered congratulatory remarks.
Minister Kim said, “Denuclearizing North Korea and developing proper
inter-Korean relations are necessary for unification, but expanding
human rights and the freedom of North Korean residents is required to
fast-track it.
The minister highlighted that “only when we are concerned about
North Korea’s denuclearization and human rights issues in North Korea
and pursue the ‘right changes’ with one voice, will we be able to make
changes and advance unification.”
Lastly, he “asked for the public and related officials to visit the
center often and express their interest in and commitment to unification.”
