It is important to prepare for unification in everyday life through
culture and arts
The 10th contest for composing and singing a children’s song on
unification (Original Children’s Songs on Unification Contest 2023)
was held (September 22)
On September 22, the National Institute for Unification Education
hosted the Original Children’s Songs on Unification Contest 2023 at
the Yongsan Art Center.
This year’s contest was attended by ambassadors and dignitaries from
major countries, as well as officials from the embassies of the
countries that participated in the Korean War, fostering a consensus
on the future vision of “a unified Korean Peninsula that is free and
at peace.”
Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho encouraged the participating
children and asked for their “sustained interest in a unified Korean
Peninsula,” urging them “to take a leading role in the era of a
unified future.”
German Ambassador to Korea, Georg Wilfried Schmidt, also delivered a
congratulatory message, stressing the importance of children dreaming
of unification and contemplating how to bring it to fruition.
Among the nine songs that made it to the finals today, the grand
prize was awarded to When You and I Meet (Team Name: Friends), with
two songs receiving top prizes, three earning excellence prizes, and
three receiving encouragement prizes.
The Ministry of Unification will widely promote the newly released
unification song to help children nurture “their dreams and hopes for
a unified future.”
