Minister Kim Yung Ho meets with David Alton, a member of the House
of Lords of the UK (September 15)
On September 15, Unification Minister Kim Yung Ho met with David
Alton, a member of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom, to
exchange views on North Korean policies and human rights issues in
North Korea.
Minister Kim stressed that “improving the human rights situation in
North Korea is a top priority for the Yoon administration” and stated,
“We will share information about the realities of North Korea with the
international community and strengthen practical cooperation,
including inviting international experts on North Korean human rights
to Korea.”
In response, Lord Alton assessed the efforts of the South Korean
government as encouraging and said that he “hopes the UK Parliament
will also take part in this endeavor.”
