On June 27, Unification Minister Kwon Youngse paid a courtesy visit
to Archbishop Peter Chung Soon-Taick of the Catholic Church of Korea
at the Myeongdong Cathedral and they exchanged views on the direction
of unification policy.
Minister Kwon expressed gratitude for the prayers and concerns of
the Catholic Church towards peace in the Korean Peninsula amid
challenging conditions, including the recent provocation by North Korea.
Chung Soon-Taick, the Archbishop of Seoul, highlighted that the
Church can play a significant role in establishing peace on the Korean
Peninsula, adding that the Catholic Church will continue to make
efforts to bring about peace and reconciliation on the Korean
Peninsula. In that process, he asked for the government’s active support.

be ready to cooperate, and asked the Catholic Church to continue to
play a positive role in establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula in
