Unification Spokesperson Statement on Statement by the Policy Department of North Korea’s National Defense Commission
January 26, 2015
- It is deeply regrettable that North Korea distorted, criticized, and even threatened our intention to improve inter-Korean relations in its Policy Department of the National Defense Commission(NDC) statement today(1.25) instead of clarifying its stance on our proposal to hold inter-Korean dialogue for over a month.
- The government’s intention to end the era of division and open the era of unification this year which marks the 70th anniversary of liberation is firm.
- We have already proposed several times to hold inter-Korean dialogue without being confined to the dialogue level or formality to comprehensively negotiate and settle issues of our common concern.
- If North Korea truly wants to improve inter-Korean relations as it has stated, it must not avoid dialogue by repeating its unilateral claims, and come out to the dialogue table to address its message.
