Kim Ryeong-seong, leader of the North Korean side of the
inter-Korean ministerial talks, sent a telephone message in the afternoon of
July 25 to Unification Minister Jeong Se-hyun, chief South Korean delegate to
the ministerial talks.
The following are the main points of the
message:
-- "We regard it as regretful that an armed clash
accidentally occurred on the West Sea a few weeks ago. We believe that both the
North and the South should exert efforts to prevent recurrence of such incident
in the future."
-- "We propose to have a working-level contact in Mt.
Geumgang in early August for smooth discussion over such issues as the holding
of the 7th South-North ministerial-level talks in Seoul, connecting the
South-North railway, which was already agreed on between the two sides,
reuniting separated families, and implementing the April 5 joint press release
and other concerns." |
