In a National Security Council meeting October 17 senior officials discussed North Korea's nuclear weapons development program and reaffirmed their position that the matter should be resolved peacefully through dialogue.
Officials at the meeting also reaffirmed that the government was opposed to North Korea's nuclear weapons development, would strengthen cooperation with the international community including the United States and Japan to reveal the nature of the nuclear program and bring it to an end.
They agreed that the government will further step cooperation with the United States and Japan for a peaceful solution to North Korea's nuclear development program.
They also decided to raise the issue during the eighth round of the inter-Korean ministerial meeting to be held Saturday (October 19) and during summit meetings with the United States and Japan to be held on the sidelines of the Mexico APEC summit.
