Opening a New Inter-Korean Exchanges and Cooperation System
Starting
Oct., 2006, the Ministry of Unification had embarked on the reorganization of
the existing Inter-Korean Exchanges and Cooperation System in cooperation with
related government organizations such as the Ministry of Justice and the Korea
Customs Service, and opened a new Inter-Korean Exchanges and Cooperation System
on Jan. 28, 2008.
This reopening of the new exchange and cooperation
system is expected to contribute to making civil services more convenient and
easier for ordinary civilians to access by enhancing securities of personal
information on those requesting visits to North Korea, immediately providing
results on related government agencies assessment on a civilian s visit to
North Korea, simplifying administrative procedures such as sending results on
personal inquires via e-mail, as well as intensifying system stability through
the introduction of additional machines necessary for the exchanges and cooperation
system and the establishment of new data processing teams.
Civilians
will be able to directly request and confirm whether a material is a strategic
one in the new Inter-Korean Exchanges and Cooperation System, since the system
is operated in connection with the Strategic Material Management System operated
by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy,
This system is expected
to promote convenience for civilians requesting visits to North Korea, enhance
efficiency and accuracy of administrative affairs, as well as intensify the
stability of the Inter-Korean Exchanges and Cooperation System.
