North Korean defectors joined a donation campaign for the bereaved families of the sunken Navy ship Cheonan

l      North Korean defectors who are now getting education at Hanawon, a government-run resettlement support center made donations for the families of the deceased sailors of the sunken Cheonan.

l      One hundred and two former North Korean citizens including a 37 year-old female identified only as Lee delivered 810,000 won to help the families of the victims of the sinking of the Cheonan.

l      After watching TV news reports on the accident, they decided to put part of the resettlement subsidy apart to support the families of the victims and actually donated their money from 1,000 to 30,000 won.

l      The defectors said that they hoped to pay tribute to the sailors noble sprit of sacrifice along with the people and to return the love they got from the public after coming to Korea.

l      In February, when a massive earthquake hit Haiti, North Korean defectors who then stayed at the center participated in a nationwide donation campaign to aid people in Haiti. All Koreans were so touched by their warm hearts.
