Events held to comfort families separated by the Korean War

l      The Government is hosting events to seek understanding of separated families on the situation when inter-Korean exchanges are difficult to be made and console them.

- The events followed the previous ones in 2008 and 2009 where 666 and 280 people attended respectively.

l      Each of the three cities – Sokcho, Yeosu, Gyeongju - would invite 100 people. The two-day occasions would be held from June 15 to 16 in Sokcho, June 17 to 18 in Yeosu, and June 23 to 24 in Gyeongju.

- Events in Seoul and metropolitan areas would take place in the second half.

l      An event includes a policy briefing and programs to comfort seniors on Day 1, and field trips on Day 2.

- Vice Minister would join policy briefings in Sokcho and Gyeongju, and President of the Republic of Korea National Red Cross in Yeosu.

- Volunteers of the Red Cross would conduct simple medical check-ups for separated families.
