the 11th anniversary of Hanawon
Hanawon, a government-run settlement support center for North Korean defectors, is going to hold a seminar to celebrate its 11th anniversary. The seminar would be held from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on July 2 at an office of one of the co-hosts, the Organization for One Korea located in Jongno-gu, Seoul. The other two hosts are the National Medical Center and Chungnam National University Hospital.
l The theme of the seminar is health issues facing former North Koreans who have settled in South Korea.
Uhm Jong-sik, Vice Minister of Unification, would deliver his opening remarks after a congratulatory speech of Hong Sa-duk, a lawmaker from the ruling Grand National Party. Then seminar presentations and discussions would follow.
For the Ministry, it would be a good opportunity to understand nutritional issues facing North Korean defectors and private medical support for them and to find ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. It would help the Ministry to improve the medical support system for the defectors.
