Korea Global Forum 2010 to be held
The Ministry of Unification has worked on the establishment of Korea Global Forum, an international multilateral consultative group, to build a global consensus on the need of peace, security and unification on the Korean Peninsula and to listen to voices from around the world.
Former and current high-ranking government officials and experts from the US, Japan, China, Russia and other countries in Europe and Asia will join the 1.5-track forum led by their South Korean counterpart.
l The forum will be held once a year in Seoul on a regular basis.
l Han Seung-joo, a former South Korean Foreign Affairs Minister, was designated to serve as Chairman of the KGF based on his international reputation, expertise and opinions from experts.
The Korean Peninsula Seen in the Regional and Global Contexts is the topic of this year s forum which will be held at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul from September 8 to 10.
l To celebrate the launch of the forum, a special lecture will be given by William S. Cohen, a former US Secretary of Defense.
l All sessions except for the opening ceremony and Cohen s lecture will be off the record, so the agendas and the discussion results will be provided by press release.
