Press Release (November 26)

An MOU to boost medical support for North Korean refugees to be signed

Hanawon, a government-run resettlement center, is going to sign a memorandum of understanding with a civic group called Sajoewi and Seoul Medical Center in order to promote health and medical support for North Korean refugees. The ceremony will be held at the medical center on November 29.

It is expected to reduce hospital bills for North Korean defectors living in Seoul and the metropolitan area and provide them with upgraded medical service.

l Now North Korean refugees will be able to get help from a few designated clinics under the agreement in curing their infectious and maternal diseases. Some counseling offices are also planned to be built.

The Ministry of Unification will keep working hard to enhance health and medical support for North Korean defectors by reaching an agreement with more partners.
