An awards ceremony of the 29th Unification Dissertation Contest to be held
The Ministry of Unification is going to hold a ceremony to grant awards to winners of the 29th Unification Dissertation Contest at a Ministry s conference room on December 23. The competition was co-organized by Seoul National University s Institute for Peace and Unification Studies and a council of university institutes for unification, aiming to boost interest in issues related to North Korea and unification among university students and promote discussion on them.
This year s contests accepted 74 papers from 38 universities and graduate schools throughout the country. After going through thorough examination by experts in and out of the Ministry, 11 papers were finally selected. The first winner is Kim Myeong-il and Shin Do-kyun from SNU whose paper was on what affects willingness to pay for unification.
A book of papers winning the award will be published within December and distributed to universities and related organizations. It will also be posted to the website of the Ministry s Unification Education Center.
All winners will be given an opportunity to go on a field trip to Panmunjeom on December 23.
