The Formal Attendants for the Inter-Korean Summit and the Schedule of the Advance Team

(Briefing by the Minister of Unification)

The Minister of Unification Lee Jae-joung gave a briefing on September 7 and explained the formal attendants for the inter-Korean summit and the schedule of the advance team.

Attendants for the Inter-Korean Summit

Minister Lee said the attendants for the summit will be chosen focusing on efficient assistance and composed of formal, special, and general attendants.

Minister Lee announced the list of the 13 formal attendants as follows:

Kwon O-kyu, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Finance and Economy

Kim Woo-sik, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Science and Technology

Lee Jae-joung, Minister of Unification

Kim Jang-soo, Minister of National Defense

Im Sang-gyu, Minister of Agriculture & Forestry

Byun Jae-jin, Minister of Health & Welfare

Kim Man-bok, Director of the National Intelligence Service

Byun Yang-gyun, Chief Secretary to the President for National Policy

Baek Jong-chun, Chief Secretary to the President for National Security

Yeom Sang-guk, Chief of the Presidential Security Service

Chon Ho-seon, Presidential Spokesperson

O Sang-ho, Protocol Secretary to the President

Cho Myoung-gyun, Secretary to the President for National Security Policy

Regarding the special attendants of 40 persons, Minister Lee said it will be composed of those who can substantially contribute to the development of the inter-Korean relations from diverse fields of the community. It is expected to announce the list of the special attendants early next week, he added.

The general attendants of 90 persons will be composed of working-level officials from Cheong Wa Dae and other related Ministries and Offices.

The Schedule of the Advance Team

Minister Lee said since they have much more time to prepare because of the rescheduled summit, the South and the North agreed to divide the advance team into to parts and send them to the North separately.

Therefore, the first advance team will visit the North from September 18 to 21, and the second will visit there from September 27 to October 1.

The advance team will consult with the North about concrete schedule of the summit and other practical matters by fields. In addition, the team will make on-the-spot survey at the venue.
