
Minister Kim Ha-joong had a breakfast meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon
Unification Minister Kim Ha-joong had a breakfast meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at Grand Hyatt Seoul on July 6, 2008.
During this meeting, Minister Kim briefed Mr. Ban on the recent development of inter-Korean affairs and inter-Korean relations. He also explained Lee Myung-bak government s policy on North Korea and its position on the advancement of inter-Korean dialogues.
He particularly emphasized the importance of dialogue for the advancement of inter-Korean relations, saying that coexistence and mutual prosperity through inter-Korean cooperation will not only contribute to the stability and peace on the Korean Peninsula but also bring benefits and happiness to the people of the two Koreas.
Secretary General Ban evaluated the progress in the North Korean nuclear issue and shared the need for inter-Korean dialogues, stating that he, as the UN Secretary General, would play a role in promoting peace on the Korean Peninsula and advancing inter-Korean relations.
