Local events to which separate families are invited have continued to be held in various areas to mark the August 15 National Independence Day from August 19 to 29.
- Daejeon City Hall on August 26; Jeonju Branch of the Republic of Korea National Red Cross on August 27; Chuncheon Branch of the Republic of Korea National Red Cross on August 28; Jeju Branch of the Republic of Korea National Red Cross on August 29
- Forty to one hundred separated families (500 in total) are invited according to the scale of each place.
Inter-Korean Joint Committee of Agricultural, Forestry and Marine Products holds a special seminar on August 25 under the theme of the newly-inaugurated Lee Myung-bak administration s North Korea policy emphasizing coexistence and mutual prosperity.

The Third MOU-KINU Policy Forum is held on August 28 under the theme of future direction of the inter-Korean relationship and mutual cooperation measures.
The unification field-trip for the people is conducted from August 26 to 27 at the South and North Korean CIQ. Students from Seoul National University High School and Hwagok Girls High School participate in the field-trip.
Joint inspection is conducted on construction sites at Gaeseong Industrial Complex in order to achieve solid construction. Two teams of six inspectors consisting of civil engineers, maintenance specialists and representatives from the Korea Institute of Registered Architects checked the structural safety of each company s building.
