Agreement Reached at Inter-Korean Red Cross Talks

The South and the North held Inter-Korean Red Cross Talks at Mount Geumgang from August 26 to 28, 2009, and have reached an agreement on the following points:

1. The South and the North agreed to hold family reunions from September 26 to October 1 on the occasion of Chuseok, or Korean Thanksgiving Day, in the following manner:

① The South and the North shall allow 100 people, respectively, to reunite with their families.

② On September 1, both Sides shall respectively submit to each other a list of 200 candidates for family reunions to verify their fates. Both Sides shall exchange the results by September 15 and the final roster of 100 people on September 17.

③ Group reunions shall take place at Mount Geumgang Family Reunion Center and individual reunions at existing facilities such as the Geumgangsan Hotel.

④ To ensure that reunions take place accordingly, both Sides shall send an advance party five days prior to the reunions.

2. The South and the North agreed to continue to discuss separated family and other humanitarian issues in the spirit of advancing inter-Korean relations.
