The South Korean government today approved the visit of five Grand National Party lawmakers to Gaeseong Industrial Complex on Sept. 30. The five visitors include GNP leader Hong Joon-pyo, spokesperson Rep. Kim Gi-hyeon and other GNP officials.
The Ministry of Unification has discussed the requested visit to the GIC with GNP officials and the North Korean counterpart after Chairman Hong expressed his willingness to visit the complex in a parliamentary speech on September 7.
The purpose of the lawmakers’ visit is to obtain a better understanding on GIC and to listen to the difficulties of the South Korean companies operating in the complex at the request of the Gaeseong Industrial District Management Committee and the South Korean entrepreneurs in Gaeseong.
GNP Chairman Hong and his fellow GNP members are scheduled to tour the infrastructures and facilities at the GIC and have a meeting with business operators there.
