MOU Spokesperson’s Commentary on North Korea’s Announcement to Abrogate Korean War Armistice
- It is deeply regrettable that North Korea is increasing tension on the Korean Peninsula by making a series of announcements to abrogate “The Agreements on Non-aggression between the two Koreas” as well as “The Declaration of the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula” following its third nuclear test and continued threats of provocation.
- North Korea should not make inter-Korean relations further difficult by announcing to scrap agreements reached between the two Koreas and should realize that there is nothing it can gain through provocation and threats.
- Furthermore, North Korea should move on to the path of trust-building by acknowledging and respecting all agreements made between the two Koreas.
- The Korean government makes it clear that North Korea will be held responsible for all the consequences of breaching inter-Korean agreements.
