Unification Spokesperson's statement regarding
the inter-Korean governmental working-level talks
on the Gaeseong Industrial Complex(GIC)
□ The R.O.K. government deeply regrets that North Korea announced an actual breakdown of the inter-Korean governmental working-level talks on the Gaeseong Industrial Complex(GIC) today.
o It is also deeply regretful that North Korean delegates rushed into the press room without any notice right after the talks. Despite our efforts to restrain such abrupt entrance, the North side unilaterally distributed and read their press statement prepared beforehand, and disclosed documents regarding the dialogue including the draft agreement.
□ The R.O.K. government gauges that the question of maintenance or abolition of the GIC stands at a crossroad, due to the results of today’s inter-Korean governmental working-level talks.
□ If North Korea does not present its sincere attitude towards arranging measures to prevent the recurrence of the unilateral suspension of the GIC, the R.O.K. government will be compelled to make a grave decision.
