R.O.K. Government Stance on Statement of North Korea's
'Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland'

□ The R.O.K. government strongly condemns North Korea for distorting facts regarding the deployment of THAAD and plotting a division of public opinion within the South, while slandering our Head of State through a statement by the 'Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland' on August 3.
□ North Korea is posing a serious threat to the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia by launching more than 10 ballistic missiles this year, including the one it launched into the East Sea yesterday(8.3).
It is the North's nuclear missile that threatens the lives of Koreans and destroys peace on the Korean Peninsula. The South's decision to deploy THAAD is a defensive measure that responds to North Korea's increasing nuclear missile threat and protects the lives of our people as well as the security of the R.O.K.
□ North Korea must realize that it cannot justify its nuclear development and aggravate public sentiment through preposterous claims. The North should immediately suspend its absurd behavior and take a path toward change and denuclearization with sincerity.
