□ The Settlement Support Center for North Korean Refugees (Hanawon) signed a medical support agreement for health promotion of North Korean defectors with the Korea Hana Foundation and Ajou University Hospital at 16:00 on March 26, 2018.

 □ The agreement primarily addresses medical treatment and counseling; reducing medical expenses and facilitating access to medical treatment; consolidating public healthcare expenditures and rendering support in a lump sum; and improving the health of North Korean defectors in local communities.

 □ Hanawon has signed medical support agreements for North Korean defectors with 25 hospitals and medical institutions through a cooperative system between the public and private sectors.
It takes into consideration their needs for medical care and promotes the health of North Korean defectors in many ways, including the signing of medical support agreements between private hospitals and private support organizations, establishing a cooperative system with appropriate agencies and defraying medical expenses, and managing counseling offices at four hospitals (National Medical Center, Chungnam National University Hospital, Seoul Medical Center, and Incheon Red Cross Hospital).

□ Hanawon will work for the improved health of North Korean defectors by establishing more medical support agreements with public and private medical institutions across the nation and will further strive to address their medical problems.
