The Ministry of Unification will conduct the Disaster Response &
Safety Drill for youth at the Center for Unified Korean Future in
Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do on May 15-16.
The drill involves the Table Top Exercise on May 15 and the Field
Training Exercise on May 16.
It is intended to develop young people’s capabilities to respond to
any disaster calmly, quickly, and effectively, and to make them aware
of the dangers.
This hands-on exercise will prepare young people for a hostage
situation or an explosion of an oil storage tank, which could claim
many victims.
Twenty-two agencies will join the drill including the Ministry of
Unification, Yeoncheon-gun Office, Gyeonggi Bukbu Provincial Police
Agency, Yeoncheon Fire Station, Yeoncheon Police Station, and Army
28th Infantry Division. Some 330 people including young people in
training will participate.
The Ministry of Unification will do its best to ensure that young
people can complete hands-on training sessions regarding unification
in a safe environment.
