August 5, 2019

o The ROK Government held the 307th Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation Promotion Council in written form from July 29 to August 2, 2019, and approved the Inter-Korean Cooperation Fund expenditure plan on establishing a digital archive of relic materials found through the inter-Korean joint excavations at Manwoldae Palace in Gaeseong.

o A total of 640 million won will be provided for digitally archiving relic materials found through joint excavations at Manwoldae Palace in Gaeseong.

o This is a project to organize and process around 600 thousand relic materials produced from 12 years of joint excavations at Manwoldae(’07~’18), and to build a digital archive over a time span of four years(’17~’20).

  - A total of 340 million won will be spent on organizing and processing relic materials including photos, floor plans, and videos. Another 300 million won will be spend on establishing and developing the digital archive system.

o Relic materials found over the past 12 years of joint excavations will be provided to the public, thus available for free use in various fields including academic research. The ROKG anticipates for the digital archives to contribute to spreading and sharing the results of inter-Korean cooperation projects.
