On December 4, the North Korean media reported that the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) celebrated the 70th anniversary of its founding.
On December 7, the KCNA, in its full report, declared the recovery from flood damage in the northern areas of North Hamgyong Province and reported on specific aspects of the recovery effort.
On December 8, the North Korean media reported that the 8th Congress of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea was held.
On December 3, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Policy Department of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country of the DPRK (CPRC), in a statement, condemned the ROK military command’s activities and remarks as “a scheme for causing provocations and security concerns” and “a tactic to divert the public’s attention to security issues.”
On December 3, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the North Side Headquarters of the Nationwide Special Committee for Probing the Truth behind the GIs' Crimes, in a statement, criticized the remarks by the Minister of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration about accepting an increase in defense burden-sharing for the USFK (November 21) and instigated an anti-government campaign.
On December 4, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation, in a statement, denounced the ROK’s unilateral sanctions on North Korea, asserting that “the sanctions will be ineffective” and that “it will be ROK companies that suffer from the sanctions.”
On December 6, the North Korean media reported that its permanent representative to the U.N. office sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General (December 5) and demanded an explanation of the legal grounds for UNSC Resolution 2321.
On December 7, the North Korean media reported that the DPRK Institute for International Studies, in an open questionnaire to the UN, argued that “the U.S. imperialists have turned the human rights issue, which does not exist in the North, into a political issue, in order to isolate and overthrow the DPRK.”
On December 9, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, denounced the U.S. House of Representatives for passing a resolution urging North Korea to allow Korean Americans to hold reunions with their long-separated family members in the North.
