From January 22 to 26, the North Korean media reported Kim Jong Un’s public activities as follows: Kim provided field guidance at 1) KPA Unit 1314 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment, 2) visited the funeral altar of Kang Ki Sop, and 3) provided field guidance at the construction site of Ryomyong Street.
On January 21, the North Korean media reported that Premier Pak Pong Ju provided field guidance at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex.
On January 23, the North Korean media reported that Chae Ryong Hae provided field guidance at the renovation and construction site of the Taekwondo Hall.
On January 24, the North Korean media reported that the Ministry of Machine-building Industry and its affiliated factories and complexes are making an all-out effort to modernize and localize machine equipment.
【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On January 26, the North Korean media reported that the 17th meeting of co-chairmen of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification was held and a joint resolution adopted at the meeting emphasized that continuous efforts should be made 1) to remove the danger of war and create a peaceful environment, 2) improve inter-Korean relations, 3) make the pan-national gathering for reunification successful, and 4) meet the challenges of separatist forces in order to advance “independent reunification.”
【Foreign Affairs】
On January 26, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated the North’s foreign policy for this year, saying that “North Korea will actively develop foreign relations in a way that befits its position as an independent, nuclear powerhouse.”
