【Internal Affairs】

From May 20 to 22, the North Korean media reported Kim Jong Un’s public activities as follows: Kim 1) posed for a commemorative photo with developers of the Hwasong-12 and 2) observed the test-firing of the Pukguksong-2.

 

On May 22, the North Korean media reported that Premier Pak Pong Ju provided field guidance at major factories and industrial complexes in Hamhung.

 

On May 22-24, the North Korean media reported that the 20th Pyongyang Spring International Trade Fair opened on May 22 and would continue until May 25.

 

【Inter-Korean Affairs】

On May 25, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the General Staff Department of the KPA, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, condemned the ROK military for firing warning shots at an “unidentified object” (May 23).

 

On March 25, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation, in a statement, criticized the conservative force and media’s remarks on North Korea and instigated an anti-conservative fight.

 

【Foreign Affairs】

On May 20, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, condemned the US for making moves to step up its sanctions against North Korea regarding the launch of Hwasong-12, a new ballistic missile.

 

On May 23-24, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, fully denied the UNSC’s press statement condemning the test-firing of the Pukguksong-2 and criticized the response from the US against Russia regarding Mangyongbong's operation as the Rajin-Vladivostok international tourist liner.

 

On May 24, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the North Korean Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, denounced the responses from the ROK and the US to the test-firing of the Pukguksong-2, including the continuation of economic and diplomatic pressure and maintaining full readiness posture.
