【Internal Affairs】

From June 3 to 9, the North Korean media reported Kim Jong Un’s public activities as follows: Kim 1) provided field guidance at the Kangso Mineral Water Factory, 2) observed the combat flight contest among commanding officers of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) Air and Anti-Air Force 2017, 3) participated in the 8th Congress of the Korean Children's Union (KCU) and delivered speech, 4) posed for a commemorative photo with the participants of the 8th Congress of the KCU, and 5) gave field guidance at the test-firing of a new-type cruise missile.

 

On June 8, the North Korean media reported that about 20 factories and enterprises under the Ministry of Machine-Building Industry completed their industry production plans and their plans by key performance indicator for the first half of 2017 earlier than scheduled.

 

On June 8, the North Korean media reported that a closing ceremony was held for the National Children's Science Fictions and Models Exhibition-2017 on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Korean Children's Union.

 

 

【Inter-Korean Affairs】

On June 8, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, condemned the ROK government's support for UNSC Resolution 2356 on DPRK Sanctions.

 

On June 9, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Central Committee of the DPRK Red Cross Society, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, called for the immediate repatriation of 12 North Korean restaurant workers who defected to the South and Kim Ryen-hi and emphasized that “there will never be any humanitarian cooperation including reunions of separated families before their repatriation.”

 

【Foreign Affairs】

On June 4, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, fully rejected the US’s unilateral sanctions (June 1) and the UNSC’s new sanctions on North Korea (June 2) as “hostile acts with the purpose of causing economic suffocation to the North” and asserted that “the North will not flinch from the road to build up nuclear forces.”

 

On June 6, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, condemned the US’s decision to pull out of the Paris Agreement as “the height of egotism and moral vacuum seeking only their own well-being at the cost of the entire planet.”

 

On June 8, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Korean Peace Advocacy National Committee, in a statement, denounced Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for spearheading anti-DPRK moves at international arenas over Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs, and warned that “Japan’s territories will be reduced to ashes, ahead of those of the United States, in the event of a contingency.”
