August 3 Consumer Goods: August 3 Consumer Goods refer to the goods made at factories and enterprises and by housewives’ work teams with unused materials, waste, and by-products. These goods are not included in the national production plan. North Korea has been carrying out the August 3 Consumer Goods Production Movement, thereby increasing the availability of consumer goods, which are in short supply. The August 3 Consumer Goods Production Movement was so named after Kim Jong Il ordered that the consumer goods production using waste and by-products be expanded nationwide and involve all North Koreans when he provided field guidance at the Pyongyang City light industrial goods exhibition on August 3, 1984.

On August 7, the North Korean media reported that the 7th Rason International Trade Fair was opened.

 【Foreign Affairs】

On August 7, the North Korean media reported that the DPRK government, in a statement, denounced UN Security Council resolution 2371 as “a wanton violation of and a direct challenge to the sovereignty of the DPRK since it is a product of the US heinous hostile policy toward the DPRK to stifle the ideology, social system, and people in the DPRK,” flatly rejected the resolution, and threatened to retaliate against it one thousand times.
