【Internal Affairs】

On August 23, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un visited the Chemical Material Institute of the Academy of Defense Sciences.

On August 19, the North Korean media reported that the mausoleum of Suk Jong, the 15th king of Koryo( Goryeo), was recently discovered in Kaesong.

On August 21, the North Korean media reported that the completion ceremony for the renovated Taekwondo Hall was held.

On August 22, the North Korean media reported that Premier Pak Pong Ju made a field survey of Samjiyon, where construction projects to spruce up the county are underway.

On August 23, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Korean Peace Advocacy National Committee, in a statement, condemned the ROK and the US regarding the Ulchi-Freedom Guardian (UFG) exercises and issued threats.

On August 24, the North Korean media reported that the North, South and Abroad Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea’s Reunification, in a joint appeal, opposed the UFG exercises, demanded the withdrawal of US forces from South Korea, and called for resistance to stop a pro-American sycophantic and anti-national scheme.

On August 19, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, slammed US Vice President Pence for calling on Latin American countries to sever diplomatic relations with North Korea and the UN Secretary General for saying that North Korea is held accountable for the increasing tensions on the Korean Peninsula, and issued threats regarding the Australian Prime Minister’s remarks that Australia would support the US should North Korea follow through with its threat to strike the US territory of Guam or other targets on the US mainland and the Australian Defense Minister’s remarks that the Australian army will participate in the UFG exercises.

On August 19, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Panmunjom Mission of the Korean People’s Army (KPA), in a statement, blasted the ROK-US joint UFG exercises and issued threats.

On August 24, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Nationwide Emergency Measure Committee against DPRK-targeted Nuclear War Exercises, in a statement, emphasized that the North would respond to key US officials’ visit to South Korea with super-hardline measures.
