【Internal Affairs】

From August 26 to 30, the North Korean media reported on Kim Jong Un’s public activities as follows: Kim observed 1) a target-striking contest of the special operation forces of the Korean People’s Army (KPA) to occupy islands and 2) the KPA Strategic Force’s medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic missile launching drill.

From August 29 to 30, the North Korean media reported that a national exhibition of sci-tech achievements made by young people was held.

From August 30 to 31, the North Korean media reported that national sci-tech presentations were held under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.

On August 30, the North Korean media reported that North Korea achieved its best-ever results at the 2017 Summer Universiade.

On August 31, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Central Court, in a statement, threatened newspaper journalists and the presidents of South Korean media outlets by name for carrying reviews of the Korean edition of North Korea Confidential written by British journalists.

On August 31, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Korean Peace Advocacy National Committee, in a statement, condemned the ROK government’s response to the Hwasong-12 launch and issued threats.

On September 1, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Central Committee of the Korean Journalists Union, in a statement, blasted the South Korean press regarding reports on North Korea’s provocations and issued threats.

On August 31, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA reporters, denounced the President of the UN Security Council for adopting a statement concerning the Hwasong-12 launch.
