the State Academy of Sciences.
On June 10, the North Korean media emphasized that the North should
complete its transformation into a global leader in education as soon
as possible.
On June 12, the North Korean media called on the people to further
their efforts to realize substantial savings in every area of the
people’s economy.
On June 14, the North Korean media reported on the progress in the
construction of the Tanchon Power Station.
【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On June 14 and 15, the North Korean
media reported that the inter-Korean generals’ talks were held and a
joint press release was adopted.
On June 15 and 16, the North Korean media reported that the National
Joint Committee for the Implementation of the June 15 Joint
Declaration adopted a resolution.
On June 10, the North Korean media condemned the Liberty Korea Party
for opposing the adoption of a resolution supporting the Panmunjeom Declaration.
On June 12, the North Korean media denounced the South Korean
conservative parties for arguing that national security is on the
brinks of a crisis and the people should make a judgment on the
administration, regarding the June 13 local elections.
On June 15, the 18th anniversary of the June 15 Declaration, the
North Korean media reported that the Panmunjeom Declaration is a new
announcement for independent reunification, national independence, and
great national unity, which carries on the spirit of the June 15
South-North Joint Declaration and the October 4 Declaration.
【Foreign Affairs】
On June 11-14, the North Korean media
reported on the 2018 North Korea-US summit meeting.
On June 10, the North Korean media reported that, at the Senior
Officials’ Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum, the North Korean
delegation emphasized the meaning of the Panmunjeom Declaration and
expressed the North’s determination to uphold peace on the Korean Peninsula.
On June 11, the North Korean media emphasized that if the US
recognizes the North’s sovereignty, it would normalize diplomatic
relations with the US.
On June 13, the North Korean media reported that the key to the
joint statement between North Korea and the US is to agree on the
establishment of a new bilateral relationship.
