【Internal Affairs】
On April 6-11, the North Korean media
reported that Kim Jong Un gave field guidance at the construction
sites of the Wonsan-Kalma coastal tourist area, the construction site
of the hot-spring tourist area in Yangdeok County, South Pyeongan
Province, and the Taesong Department Store in Pyeongyang; and attended
a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the
Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) on April 9 and the 4th plenary meeting
of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK on April 10.
On April 9, the North Korean media reported that Premier Pak Pong Ju
provided field guidance at various units in North Hamgyeong Province,
including the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the construction site
of Orangchon Power Station No. 4, the construction site of the
Palhyang Dam, and the construction site of the Yombunjin Hotel.
On April 7, the North Korean media emphasized the tradition of
revolutionary camaraderie on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of
the publication of Kim Jong Il’s work, “Revolutionary Camaraderie is
the Foundation of Unity and a Driving Force Behind Our Revolution.”
On April 7, the North Korean media reported that the coal industry
is making efforts to create a coal mining field at each coal mine.
On April 8, the North Korean media reported that Workers’ Party of
Korea (WPK) Vice Chairman Choe Ryong Hae gave field guidance at the
Migok Co-op Farm in Sariwon, the Hwangju County Farm Machine Station,
the Sariwon Chicken Farm, the Sariwon Duck Farm, the Jangchon
Cooperative Farm in Hwangju County, and the Pyongyang Ostrich Farm.
On April 9, the North Korean media underscored the importance of
increasing power production and making more efforts to conserve energy.
On April 9, the North Korean media emphasized the achievements of
Kim Jong Il in an editorial marking the 26th anniversary of his
election as the chairman of the National Defense Commission.
On April 12, the North Korean media reported that a meeting was held
on the first day of the first session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly.

symposium on medicine and science was held on April 10-11 at the
Science and Technology Hall on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of
the publication of Kim Jong Il’s work, “On improving public health services”

【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On April 7, the North Korean media
condemned the South’s introduction of F-35A fighter jets.
On April 8, the North Korean media blasted the South’s 2019
implementation plan for development in inter-Korean relations.
On April 9, the North Korean media denounced the South for releasing
the findings of the inter-Korean joint railway survey.
On April 9, the North Korean media condemned the South’s military
exercises including SSangyong, the joint military amphibious exercise,
and Max Thunder, the joint military exercise.
【Foreign Affairs】
On April 10, the North Korean media
blasted Japan for issuing elementary school textbooks that make a
stronger claim to the Dokdo islets.
On April 11, the North Korean media reported that a delegation of
the DPRK-China Friendship Association led by Pak Kyong Il, the
vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with
Foreign Countries, met with the vice chairperson of the National
Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
On April 12, the North Korean media reported that an art exhibition
of photos, paintings, sculptures, and books from North Korea was held
in Beijing to mark the 70th anniversary of China-DPRK diplomatic ties
as well as the first anniversary of DPRK leader Kim Jong Un’s first
visit to China.
