【Internal Affairs】
On July 8-9, the North Korean media reported that Kim Jong Un paid his respects at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and participated in a national meeting to mark the 25th anniversary of the death of Kim Il Sung.

On July 6, the North Korean media emphasized the importance of setting the tone of valuing quantitative numbers, saying that “(The people) should engage in production and business activities based on numerical values.”

On July 6, the North Korean media reported on the progress in the construction of the hot spring tourist area in Yangdeok, South Pyeongan Province.

On July 7, the North Korean media reported that the North announced the list of eligible voters for the election of deputies for provincial, city, and county people’s assemblies.

On July 9, the North Korean media reported that Premier Kim Jae Ryong gave field guidance at the Kim Jong Suk Pyongyang Textile Mill, the Sunchon Chemical Complex, and a cooperative farm in Seongcheon, South Pyeongan Province.

On July 10, the North Korean media reported that Pak Pong Ju, vice chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), provided field guidance at the western coastal tidelands now being reclaimed including the Kumgang tideland and the Ansok tideland, and many tidelands in Jeungsan and Pyeongwon, South Pyeongan Province.

On July 10, the North Korean media reported that the pit-tunneling is nearing the final stage and the construction of the waterway tunnel is proceeding in earnest at the construction site of the Tanchon Power Station.

On July 10, the North Korean media, amid continued drought, called on the people to push ahead with the work to prevent drought damage including the securing of more sources of water.


【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On July 11, the North Korean media reported that the Policy Research Director of the Institute for American Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, condemned the South’s introduction of F-35A stealth fighter jets and argued that the North would have no choice but to develop and test “special armaments.”


【Foreign Affairs】
On July 6, the North Korean media reported that the North showed “humanitarian leniency” and expelled an Australian student who had been held for anti-DPRK acts.

On July 6, the North Korean media denounced Japan’s comment on “complete implementation” of the resolutions imposing sanctions on North Korea, which was made at the G-20 summit meeting in Osaka on June 28.

On July 11, the North Korean media, on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the signing of the DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance, argued that friendship between North Korea and China will be further solidified.

On July 11, the North Korean media reported that Jo Yong Sam, director-general of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with his Chinese counterpart Lu Kang.

On July 12, the North Korean media reported that a delegation of the International Department of the WPK led by Kim Song Nam, the first vice director of the WPK, met with Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
