a wreath and expressed deep condolences over the death of Hwang Hong
Sik, former deputy department director of the Central Committee of the
Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).
On November 4, the North Korean media reported that Choe Ryong Hae,
member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central
Committee, gave field guidance at the construction site of the hot
spring tourist area in Yangdeok, South Pyeongan Province.
On November 7, the North Korean media reported that the women’s DPRK
football team defeated its South Korean rival in the semi-finals of
the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship in Thailand and advanced into the finals.
On November 8, the North Korean media reported that Premier Kim Jae
Ryong provided field guidance at different units of the most important
sectors of the national economy, including the Pyongyang Thermal Power
Complex, the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine, the February 8 Jikdong Youth
Coal Mine, the Inpho Youth Coal Mine, the Hwanghae Iron and Steel
Complex, the Wonsan Rolling-Stock Complex, the livestock farming base
in the Sepho area, and the construction site of the Sepho Army-People
Power Station.
【Inter-Korean Affairs】
On November 2, the North Korean media condemned the ROK military for
planning to introduce new weapons including F-35A fighter jets and
advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM) and for conducting
the Hwarang military drills.
On November 7, the North Korean media denounced the ROK Prime
Minister for visiting Japan and meeting with Japanese Prime Minister
Shinzo Abe.
【Foreign Affairs】
On November 2, the North Korean media reported that Chinese
President Xi Jinping sent a reply to the congratulatory message from
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on the occasion of the 70th founding
anniversary of China.
On November 2, the North Korean media reported that Chinese
President Xi Jinping, in the reply to Kim Jong Un’s congratulatory
message, condemned Japan for claiming that it might “exercise its
right to collective self-defense in space.”
On November 5, the North Korean media reported that a spokesperson
for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a Q&A session with KCNA
reporters, denounced the United State for “re-listing the DPRK as a
state sponsor of terrorism.”
On November 6, the North Korean media reported that Kwon Jong Gun, a
roving ambassador, slammed the US Department of Defense for planning
to conduct air drills with the ROK in December.
On November 7, the North Korean media reported that the North’s
ambassador for ties with Japan, Song Il Ho, blasted Japanese Prime
Minister Shinzo Abe for taking issue with the DPRK’s test-firing of
super-large multiple rocket launchers.
